Vintage slip shade wall sconces from the late '20s to 1930s from Markel. With some art deco influence they have enough classic style to proudly grace any style home. These antique slip shades are original to Markel's fixtures. This glass pattern is commonly called "Chevron" and came in a couple of different colors; this amber color is their most popular. You also have the choice of their clear frosted shades instead of the amber ones, one clear frosted slip shade shown below. Shades are in excellent condition with good uniform color and no noticeable chips or cracks. The cast iron back plates have been refinished in an original color of the day, Antique Golden, which is also a great compliment to the shades.
Common in fixtures of this period and earlier is the detail on parts of the fixture which is not seen when in use. Part of the back plate covered by the glass shade has a wonderful starburst pattern, see image below.
