Early American Art Deco Slip Shade Sconces. .
.
These unique and vintage slip shade wall sconces date from the late 20s through early 30s. During that time the Southwest was being promoted by the railroads and as a result a strong interest in Native American art followed. Here that influence is seen in the feather background on the sconce backs of the fixtures. Just below the feather motif is a quite different design and we have had some discussion as to whether it is an Art Nouveau influence or another Native American design from the coastal regions of the Northwest (my vote). Either way these antique wall fixtures have a wonderful feel and charm to them.
The slightly flared rim and the scalloped edge of the light amber glass shades add a great texture and is a uniting element of the design. These sconces have been completely refurbished including all new wiring, switches and come with mounting brackets so they can be installed within minutes.
